Concert, Stage and Snack Duty

SnackSTAGE DUTY

Find your name and the date you’ve been assigned stage duty on the roster sheet. If you cannot do stage duty on that date make your own arrangements to switch dates with another parent. Call the other parents involved to inform them of the change.

On the morning of the assigned day arrive at Laney College by 8:30. (There is 5 hour parking on the east side of the campus.) Help the Manager to bring out and set up the chairs, music stands, tables and other needed equipment.

During transition times between sectional and full rehearsals, assist the Conductor and the Manager in moving equipment as necessary.

During breaks, assist the Conductor and the Manager in supervising students. Ensure that students stay in designated areas.

After rehearsal help put away the chairs, stands and other equipment. Plan on staying 15-30 minutes after the rehearsal ends.

SNACK DUTY

Find your name and the date you’ve been assigned snack duty on the roster sheet. If you cannot do snack on that date make your own arrangements to switch dates with another parent. Call the other parents involved to inform them of the change.

Two weeks before the assigned date call the other parents with whom you are sharing snack responsibilities. Divide up the snack duties. Usually one parent brings the food, the other brings the beverage, cups and napkins. Try to provide healthy food such as pre-cut bagels & spread, muffins, Aram sandwiches, fruit, cheese & crackers, croissants, etc. You are free to bring what you wish although we discourage candy and caffeine. Food and drink should serve 80 musicians and 5 adults. Drinks should be served either in paper cups or be individual portions, such as juice boxes. Bring at least 4 gallons of beverage. (If you bring cups, bring at least 150 as they will throw out their first cup before coming back for more.) Food should be served with napkins only, no plates. Please avoid things that crumble easily, make a mess or are sticky, or make tempting projectiles. (Please, absolutely no Goldfish or grapes.) The cost for snack should be divided equally between the host families.

On the morning of the assigned day arrive at Laney College by 10:00 and check with the manager on the snack time for the day. Set up the snack on the table in the alleyway between the theater and music classrooms. Serve the snack and supervise the orchestra members. Laney College is concerned about rowdiness and debris left around the campus. Make sure the musicians pick up after themselves! The children of the snack families are encouraged to help monitor the other musicians. After snack, clean up the table and surrounding area.
